Jailer is a newly released Indian Tamil language action comedy film that was released on 9 August 2023. The name of the film director is Nelson Dilipkumar and the producer’s name is Kalanithi Maran of Sun Pictures. The film stars Rajinikanth in the lead role, with Vinayakan, Ramya Krishnan, Vasanth Ravi, Tamannaah, Sunil, Mirna Menon, and Yogi Babu in supporting roles. Mohanlal, Shiv Rajkumar, and Jackie Shroff make guest appearances.
The film was officially announced in February 2022 with the working title Thalaivar 169, marking Rajinikanth’s 169th film, while the official title Jailer was announced in June.
Rajinikanth plays the role of Muthuvel Pandian, who is a retired police officer and lives in Kodambakkam with his family. Muthuvel’s son, ACP Arjun (Vasanth Ravi), is investigating an eccentric gangster Varman (Vinayakan), who smuggles idols of deities and sells them to buyers abroad, operating from his base of operations in Arakkonam.

As of 21 August 2023, Zeller had grossed ₹194.7 crore in Tamil Nadu, ₹75 crore in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, and ₹60 crore in Karnataka. It has also earned ₹166.31 crore at the overseas box office. According to some sources, the film grossed ₹605 crores worldwide.
