The movie stars Nandamuri Kalyan Ram in a dual role, alongside Catherine Tresa, Samyuktha Menon, Vivan Bhatena, and Prakash Raj. The story follows King Bimbisara of the Trigarta Kingdom from the 5th century BC as he travels through time and lands in the modern-day world.
Principal photography for the film began in 2020 and ended in November 2021, with delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The movie was shot mostly at Ramakrishna Studios in Hyderabad and had a budget of ₹40 crore. The film’s score was composed by M. M. Keeravani, who also wrote the songs with Chirrantan Bhatt.
Bimbisara was released on August 5, 2022, and received critical acclaim from critics and audiences alike. It was also successful at the box office. The movie had its digital premiere on ZEE5 on October 21, 2022.
